A beautiful Monday afternoon in the bush. A soft breeze, dappled sunlight, birds twittering, kangaroos bounding through the paddock and two souls all the way from Oklahoma, USA tying the knot! Finishing with true country hospitality, we put together a delicious dinner of fresh Barramundi & home grown salad, with camp oven damper, followed by home grown mango & ice-cream for dessert.
It's the little touches, the simple, often forgotten details that we bring to our guests celebrations, that make their occasion truly memorable here at Ringers Rest! When Philip & Kimberly dreamed to have their destination wedding in Australia, they immediately thought of North Queensland for their elopement (Reef, Rainforest, Outback - all within an hour's drive of Cairns). They left with all their expectations exceeded!
North Queensland as a wedding destination offered them everything in their week away from home. Kimberly, a biologist, was keen to get out on the Great Barrier Reef - tick! Philip, a renewable energies engineer was interested in the Tablelands plight for renewable options. Kuranda Village offered their next favourite exploration, pristine rainforest walks, butterfly sanctuary, koalas to cuddle and more - tick! Staying at Kewarra Beach resort gave them the beauty of the beach lifestyle too, with complimentary wallabies and flying foxes to observe and admire.
Natalie from Cairns Wedding Photography, with her extensive knowledge of locations in the north, was perfect to assist Philip & Kim with their choice for a rustic, country venue (emulating their home and lifestyle). Nat referred them to Ringers Rest Functions Venue for their "country" ceremony and at last ALL the boxes were pretty much ticked! For us, hearing from Kim was exciting and we couldn't wait to assist with their plans. A celebrant was next on the list and Chrissy Ratcliffe was a top choice and ready to go at such short notice. Chrissy brought much fun and support for Philip & Kim from organising all the legal paperwork, personalising their ceremony, to sharing and showing her love for North Queensland with them too!
So within a few emails, we had Philip & Kimberly's elopement organised. Venue; photographer; celebrant; decorations/flowers; Aussie dining experience; and local attraction suggestions from us all!
We (here at Ringers Rest), along with Nat, Chrissy & Helen (Floral Magic) had so much fun bringing Philip & Kim's elopement together for them and sharing in their joy, love & plenty of laughter. It truly highlighted the beauty of simplicity & style, elegance & grace, joy & love that a day for your marriage should encapsulate.
Treasured moments... Love from the Ringers Rest Team xx
